IF THE SENSOR WAS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED, VEHICLE HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS DURING HARD BRAKING, SUDDEN TURNS OR OTHER QUICK MANEUVERS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO REACT IN AN UNEXPECTED MANNER OR RESULT IN UNSTABLE HANDLING. UNDER EXTREME CONDITIONS, THE DRIVER COULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND A CRASH COULD OCCUR.
The vehicle dynamic control (VDC) G-sensor was installed backwards on some vehicles. As a result, the vehicle may handle in an unexpected way during hard braking, sudden turns, or other quick maneuvers. In extreme conditions, the driver could lose control of the vehicle and a crash could occur.
You must contact and visit a Subaru dealership to perform recall repairs on your Subaru vehicle. The schedule for Subaru to contact known owners of affected vehicles is during December, 2008. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Subaru dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Subaru recall designation is WVG-17.
