Recall 08V311000

Brake Fluid May Leak from the Master Cylinder

Recall Details

The brake master cylinder may leak fluid internally past a seal and into the brake booster. This will cause braking performance to deteriorate. Dealers will inspect the master cylinder and replace it if necessary. This recall began on July 23, 2008.

Our Quick Take

The brake master cylinder forces fluid through the brake lines to each wheel and slows the vehicle. The master cylinder may have an internal seal leak, causing fluid to leak into the brake booster that it mounts up against. If fluid leaks from the master cylinder, brake performance will deteriorate.
