AN ENGINE SURGE CAUSED BY AN UNEXPECTED INCREASE IN ENGINE RPM MAY SURPRISE THE VEHICLE OPERATOR AND CAN RESULT IN A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.
The engine control module may not correctly control the idle speed with the air conditioning on. The could result in an unexpected idle surge, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will update the engine control module software to correct this concern. This recall is expected to begin by May 30, 2008. The Volkswagen recall number is 24M9/R7.
This should be considered a high priority recall; the idle speed could increase without warning. Please contact your Volkswagen dealer.
