IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, A DEPLOYING FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG OR FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG WILL INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO SMALL OR OUT-OF-POSITION OCCUPANTS.
In areas were road salt is used, drivers may track the salt water solution into the vehicle. This can damage the airbag wiring under the front carpet, resulting in illumination of the airbag warning light and failure of the occupant detection system (ODS) and the occupant position detection system (OPDS). As a result, in the event of a crash, the passenger side and front airbags may be deployed incorrectly, increasing the risk of injury. Dealers will inspect and replace the wire harness as required to correct this concern. The Honda recall number is Q66.
Honda will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning December 7, 2007. If you live in an area where road salt is used and your airbag warning light illuminates, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It's helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) when you call.
