A FRACTURE MAY ALLOW FUEL VAPORS TO PASS THROUGH AND ALLOW DROPLETS OF FUEL TO ACCUMULATE ON THE SIDE OF THE FUEL TANK. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Due to variations in the manufacturing process, or exposure to high heat may lead to a fracture in the tank inlet check valve. Fuel vapors may pass through the fracture and accumulate on the side of the fuel tank. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire. Dealers will replace the fuel tank. The recall began December 4, 2007. The GM recall number is 06230.
This should be considered a high priority recall. The fuel tank may leak without warning. Please contact your GM dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
