THIS CONDITION INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH RESULTING FROM THE UNINTENDED MOVEMENT OF PARKED VEHICLES.
Certain vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard # 114 "Theft Protection" . After a period of time with the ignition switched off it is possible to remove the key while not being in park. This could result in unintended movement of the vehicle, causing a crash. The dealer will reprogram the driveline control transfer box electronic control unit free of charge. The Land Rover recall # is B037
Land Rover will contact customers of affected vehicles beginning June 30, 2006. If you have not been contacted, you can remove the key while not in park, and think your car falls under this recall. You should contact your local dealership. It is helpful to have your VIN Vehicle Identification Number ready when doing so.
