Damage to Oxygen Sensor Wiring May Cause Fire

Recall Details

On certain 2 wheel drive sport utility vehicles equipped with 3.7 liter engines, the left oxygen sensor wiring may contact the exhaust and become damaged. This is due to excessive harness length. The dealer will replace if damaged and/or tie wrap the harness securely.The Chrysler recall # is F02

What Should You Do?

Chrysler will notify customers of affect vehicles beginning April 17, 2006. If you feel your car falls under this recall and have not been contacted. You should contact your local dealer. It is helpful to have your VIN Vehicle Identification Number ready when doing so.

Summary
ON CERTAIN TWO WHEEL DRIVE SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 3.7 LITER ENGINES, THE LEFT OXYGEN SENSOR WIRING HARNESS MAY CONTACT THE EXHAUST PIPE.
Consequence
DAMAGE TO THE WIRING HARNESS COULD RESULT IN AN UNDERBODY FIRE.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE OXYGEN SENSOR WIRING HARNESS TAKEOUT FOR DAMAGE. IF THE TAKEOUT IS DAMAGED, THE WIRING WILL BE REPAIRED AND A TIE WRAP INSTALLED TO SECURE THE EXCESS LENGTH OF WIRING HARNESS. IF THERE IS NO DAMAGE, A TIE WRAP WILL BE INSTALLED TO SECURE THE EXCESS LENGTH OF THE WIRING HARNESS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 17, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
