On certain sport utility vehicles a component of the parking brake assembly was incorrectly manufactured. This may cause damage to the teeth of the parking brake resulting in parking brake not properly engaging or releasing after engagement. This could cause your vehicle to roll and result in a crash. The dealer will replace the parking brake lever assembly free of charge. The KIA recall # is SC-050

KIA will notify customers of affected vehicles beginning August 1, 2005. If you have not been notified, are having problems with your parking brake and think you vehicle falls under this recall. How many recalled cars can the dealer repair each day (while also doing their daily service business)?

Recalls are unrelated to your warranty coverage. Any recalls that are issued for safety-related items on your vehicle will be repaired by the vehicle manufacturer at no cost to you.
