Adaptive Airbag May Not Deploy as Designed

Recall Details

Certain regular cab pickup trucks equipped with a bench seat may have seat position and seat belt buckle sensor connector pins that are incorrectly positioned. This could affect the adaptive airbag deployment. In the event of a crash, occupants may not be properly restrained. Dealers will inspect the affected connectors and install an additional sub-wire harness to correct the pin location issue. This recall is scheduled to begin on July 25, 2005. The Toyota recall number is SCC 50I.

Our Quick Take

Due to a wire harness issue, the seat position and seat belt buckle sensor may not work as designed. This could affect the adaptive airbag deployment in the event of a crash and result in improper occupant restraint.
