BRAKE APPLICATION CAUSED BY INADVERTENT ESP ACTIVATION MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL AND A CRASH.
On certain sport utility vehicles equipped with electronic stability program (ESP) , the yaw rate sensor may become too sensitive and may re-calibrate incorrectly. While driving the ESP program may cause the engine to reduce power and may cause a brake at one of the wheels to be inappropriately applied. This may lead to loss of control and a crash. The dealer will Reprogram the ESP unit free of charge. The KIA recall # is SC-044
Kia will notify customers of affected vehicles beginning April 13, 2005. If you have not been contacted, notice out of the ordinary braking, and think your vehicle falls under this recall. You should contact your local dealer. It is helpful to have your VIN Vehicle Identification Number ready when doing so.
