DUE TO SUCH A STARTLING EVENT, THE INDIVIDUAL REFUELING THE VEHICLE COULD REMOVE THE FUEL NOZZLE AT PRECISELY THE MOMENT OF THE DETONATION WITHOUT FIRST STOPPING THE FUELING PROCESS. IN SUCH A CIRCUMSTANCE, FUEL ESCAPING OUTSIDE OF THE FUEL TANK MAY IGNITE, RESULTING IN A FIRE.
The fuel system may not be grounded properly, resulting in the risk of electrostatic charges that create dangerous sparks to occur while fueling the vehicle. This can cause an explosion.
You must contact and visit a Porsche dealership to perform recall repairs on your Porsche vehicle. The schedule for Porsche to contact known owners of affected vehicles is during March, 2004. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Porsche dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
