NONDEPLOYMENT OF AN SRS AIR BAG IN A CRASH WHERE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT IS WARRANTED COULD INCREASE THE RISK OR SEVERITY OF INJURY IN A CRASH.
On 36 vehicles, the driver's seat height adjuster mechanism may interfere with the seat belt wiring, which could cause the seat belt warning lamp or supplemental restraint system lamp to illuminate. It could also cause the airbag fuse (cavity number 5) to open. If this happens, the airbags may not deploy if needed in a crash. Dealers will install a new driver seat belt buckle if needed, and a protective cover over the driver seat belt buckle wiring to prevent any damage. The recall began September 23, 2003.
