Some vehicles were equipped with an override that allowed the key to be removed when the shift lever was not in the "Park" position. In addition, the override allowed the transmission to be shifted out of "Park" with the key in the off position. The overrides are not permitted by the Federal Safety Standard. Dealers will disable the overrides. The recall began on June 13, 2003.
