Drive Train
IF THIS CONDITION OCCURS, THE DRIVER MAY EXPERIENCE NOISE AND/OR VIBRATION WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. CONTINUED OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE COULD RESULT IN THE WHEEL SEPARATING FROM THE HUB, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
17" chrome wheels may not have been properly heat treated. These wheels may crack at the lug nut holes, which could result in loosening of the lug nuts. The driver may experience vibration and/or abnormal noise while driving. Continued operation of the vehicle could result in the wheel failing off, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the wheels and replace those without proper heat treating. The Ford recall number is 03S01.
Lincoln will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning April 14, 2003. If you are experiencing a vibration or abnormal noise from one or more wheels, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It's helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) when you call.
