Land Rover Recalls 2000 Range Rover Vehicles Due to Loose Caliper Mounting Bolts

Recall Details

The mounting bolts for the brake caliper to the axle may be loose. This could call reduced braking power and possible affected wheel lock up. Dealers will inspect the bolts for proper torque.

Summary
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES. ONE OR BOTH OF THE BOLTS THAT RETAIN THE BRAKE CALIPER TO THE AXLE MAY HAVE MISSED A FINAL ASSEMBLY TORQUE OPERATION. CONSEQUENTLY THEY MAY BE LOOSE OR POSSIBLY MISSING.
Consequence
CALIPER DISENGAGEMENT FROM THE AXLE COULD RESULT CAUSING REDUCED VEHICLE STABILITY WHEN BRAKING AND POSSIBLY LOCKING UP OF THE AFFECTED WHEEL.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THESE VEHICLES TO VERIFY THAT THE PROPER TORQUE HAS BEEN APPLIED.

OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JULY 17, 2000.
