Chevrolet Equinox rattle underneath front end, primarily over bumps on Chevrolet Equinox

Problem overview

Some Chevrolet Equinox owners report experiencing rattles underneath the front end, particularly over bumps, which can be attributed to several potential issues. These rattles may originate from specific areas, such as behind metal pieces under the glove box, where placing foam can help mitigate the noise. Additionally, groaning noises alongside rattles over small bumps could indicate problems with suspension components like ball joints or stabilizer links. A front-end rattle may also suggest issues with control arm bushings, tie rods, strut mounts, sway bar links, or sway bar bushings. Some owners report clunk or thump noises from the front suspension when driving over rough surfaces, especially after the suspension rebounds from a hard downward stroke. To address creaking and clunking sounds, applying silicone lubricant to the rubber front sway bar bushings may be beneficial. Even after a mechanic confirms the tightness of suspension components, some owners still experience persistent noises over bumps, which could be linked to faulty struts.
