Did you get the right pulgs? Only Bosch for Rovers. Most likely it's the wires. They are notorious for going bad. Don't by the crap at local parts store order the magnacore 8mm set. Trust me, I made this mistake!

possibly still have carbon deposits in the system, pour some oil and fuel additives, then run the car for a few days to see if the issue diminished.

Do an oil change as well if you haven't done so already.
