Intake manifold gaskets leak causing driveability issues on Volvo 850

The intake manifold gasket can leak and cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate, idle speed to be erratic and a hard starting engine. A hissing noise can often be heard from the gasket area when the leak is bad enough. Removal of the intake manifold is needed to replace the gasket.
