Problem overview

Some Jeep Renegade owners report experiencing rapid oil consumption, which may be linked to a recall concerning the oil housing hose. Although Jeep has not officially acknowledged a fault, they have implemented recalls and technical service bulletins (TSBs) to address excessive oil consumption by re-flashing the vehicle's computer to adjust valve timing and reduce cylinder vacuum that can lead to oil being pulled past the piston rings. Owners are advised to regularly monitor oil levels and address any consumption issues promptly, as failure to do so may result in engine damage or stalling while driving. The acceptable rate of oil consumption for Jeep Renegade engines is typically 1 quart in 2,000 miles for the first 50,000 miles and 1 quart in 750 miles for vehicles with more than 50,000 miles. If rapid oil consumption is suspected, contacting a dealership or certified mechanic for evaluation and resolution is recommended.
