Some Jaguar X-Type owners report experiencing issues with inaccurate fuel gauges even after replacing the fuel pump. These problems can stem from a missing 12-volt supply to the gauge's B terminal or improper grounding, which may prevent the gauge needle from moving. Additionally, some drivers have noted that the fuel gauge needle initially jumps to half after refueling but then gradually rises to the full mark over time. Others report that their gauge never exceeds between full and 3/4, despite the tank being filled to the neck, showing only 85-86.5% on a live data gauge. Temporary workarounds have been found, such as leaving the LCD display on range remaining to manage the issue, especially when the range is low. Some owners have also discovered that pressing and holding the tank selector button can force the gauge to rise slowly, but it drops back to zero once released.
