Some GMC Sierra 1500 owners report experiencing challenges when locating and replacing the oil pressure sensor, which is situated at the top rear of the engine under the ignition coil cover. Accessing the sensor can be complicated, as it requires removing the plastic engine cover and finding it beneath a hose. Some owners have successfully replaced the sensor without removing the intake manifold by utilizing a u-joint socket with an extension, although this may prove difficult for others. After identifying the sensor, a 1-1/16" oil pressure switch socket, along with a 6" extension and a u-joint, is necessary for removal and replacement. Additionally, it is crucial to apply sealant to the threads of the new sensor and tighten it to the specified torque values based on the engine size to ensure proper installation.
