GMC Canyon door alarm honks when opening and closing doors on GMC Canyon

Problem overview

Some GMC Canyon owners report experiencing unexpected honking sounds from the alarm system when opening and closing doors. This can occur when a door is opened while the vehicle is running and then closed, resulting in a rapid triple honk of the horn, regardless of the key's location. Additionally, owners with push-button start may notice horn alerts activating if the key fob is left inside the vehicle while it is on or removed while the vehicle is running. Furthermore, pressing 'unlock' on the remote key transmitter can trigger three horn chirps if an alarm was previously activated while the system was armed. These honking instances are often linked to the alarm system's settings and the interactions with the key fob and vehicle operation.
