Dodge Caravan headlights activate automatically in sunny weather, draining the battery due to a faulty tip-in switch on Dodge Caravan

Problem overview

Some Dodge Caravan owners report experiencing issues with headlights activating automatically in sunny weather, which can drain the battery. This problem may be attributed to a faulty tip-in switch, as the automatic headlight switch replaces the regular switch found in manual-only headlight-equipped vehicles. To troubleshoot, some owners suggest ensuring the headlight switch is set to "Off" instead of "Auto." Additionally, removing both the headlight relay and the daytime running light (DRL) relay from the fuse panel overnight may help determine if the lights come on unexpectedly. If the Body Control Module fails to turn the headlights off, it might require a reflash or replacement, which could be a costly repair.
