Problem overview

Some Dodge Avenger owners report experiencing issues with the anti-theft system that prevents the car from starting, even after installing a new battery. A common culprit is a dead key fob battery, which can lead to starting problems; therefore, ensuring the key fob has a good battery is crucial. Additionally, some owners find success by resetting the anti-theft system, either by disconnecting the car's battery for a few minutes or using the key fob to lock and unlock the doors before turning on the ignition. Regularly checking for warning lights on the dashboard can help identify potential issues with the anti-theft system early on. In some cases, problems may arise from electrostatic discharge affecting the wireless control module (WCM), and an updated WCM is available to address this concern. Lastly, disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes may also help resolve the no-start condition.
