Chevrolet Traverse third row headrests broken, preventing seat from laying flat on Chevrolet Traverse

Problem overview

Some Chevrolet Traverse owners report experiencing issues with the third-row headrests not folding down, which prevents the seats from laying flat. This problem has been noted in some 2024 Chevy Traverse and GMC Acadia models, where the headrests fail to drop when the cord is pulled, complicating the process of folding the seats. GM is aware of the issue and is replacing the third-row headrests on affected units; however, there is currently no known fix, as the cause of the failure has not been determined. Additionally, some owners have reported that the manual seat may not lock in the recline position, further hindering the ability to fold the seats flat due to interference with the cargo tub. It is recommended that affected owners contact a certified mechanic or GM for assistance in resolving these concerns.
