P2133 OBD-II: Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "F" Circuit High

P2133 Severity

Urgent

Should you fix P2133 yourself?

Identifying an OBD code is just the start of a complete diagnostic routine. Most trouble codes are caused by a sensor reporting a value that is out of range. Just replacing a sensor may not fix underlying issues. Be sure to understand the code, the part or system in your car that the code refers to, and the risks of delaying professional repair.

Proper diagnosis will save you time and money on unnecessary repairs.

Urgent codes indicate immediate action is necessary. These are urgent and significant malfunctions that can cause severe damage to the vehicle or harm the driver and passengers.

Schedule Diagnosis

What causes OBD-II fault code P2133?

The Throttle Position Sensor/Switch is located on the Throttle Body of the Intake Manifold and the Pedal Position Sensor/Switch is part of the Accelerator Pedal assembly. These sensors tell the engine control module (PCM) how fast the driver wants to go and how quickly it needs to get up to speed. When the PCM detects a problem with this sensor or the circuit for the sensor, it will set this code. The PCM may also limit the speed of the vehicle to 20 miles per hour or less ("Limp home mode") to protect the engine and the driver due to the control module's inability to accurately detect the engine performance being requested.
