OBD II Fault Code

  • OBD II P0C78

OBD-II Code Wiring issue is defined as a Hybrid Battery System Precharge Time Too Long

The high voltage system is controlled by two high voltage contactors that act like switches for the high voltage battery. When the vehicle is off, both switches are open. When the vehicle is turned on, the first switch (Pre-charge Switch) closes, allowing the high voltage to start powering up the rest of the vehicle. If the first switch fails to operate properly, code P0C78 is stored.

Common Problems That Trigger the P0C78 Code

    • Pre-charge contactor failure
    • Starter/generator control module failure
    • Wiring issue
