Toyota Prius no dashboard lights due to faulty capacitor on odometer board on Toyota Prius

Problem overview

Some Toyota Prius owners report experiencing dashboard light failures due to a failing capacitor on the combination meter circuit board. This issue is particularly common in Gen 2 Priuses, where the capacitor can dry out over time, leading to improper filtering and electrical instability. As a result, owners may find that essential information such as the odometer, fuel level, and speed no longer illuminates. Additionally, some owners report intermittent problems with the backup camera and consumption graph, which are also likely linked to this faulty capacitor. To resolve these issues, replacing the defective capacitor with a new one, such as a 100 uf 25v capacitor, is recommended to restore proper functionality to the dashboard display.
