Key will not come out of ignition. Car still running...uggghhh!!! This is ridiculous. Never agin will we buy a chevy.
I went to start my car and put the key in the ignition and tried to turn it over. But the key would not turn.I already had an idea what was wrong with the car.Because when I first purchased the car I had major problems with every thing.I was having it fixed and was put in a rental car another colbalt lucky me but anyhow this same thing happend in the rental car the tow truck driver that I had to pay for said this was a common problem with these cars.This was in June of 2008 so Chevy has known about this problem for some time and kept making more with the same problem but it is easier and cheaper to cover the problem up and put the blame on others.After all its the american way I mean Chevrolet way to make a cheap product get rich and bend your customer over. Thanks Chevy.I will be buying ford from now on.
Key is stuck in the ignition. I have taken it to 3 different mechanics and none of them were able to get it out.
Car started just fine all day at end of the day. Key got stuck would turn off but would not come out of ignition. Shifter has to be replaced at dealer ship is now fixing it and going on to the dealer. I am now using a loaner vehicle. This is a problem with Chevy's and they have known about it and cant fix part.
Put keys in ignition, car failed to start, it died. Keys locked in, won't come out. Had to take off panel under steering wheel and press release button. Car still won't start as it is completely dead, need to jump start now.
Was at 12000 miles when problem manifested. Temp fix - I popped the cover off the access bottom side steering to press white button and release key. gear selector had to be replaced.
