Heater Blower Motor Resistor Replacement

A heater blower motor resistor is an electronic device with three or more progressive resistors that allow the Heater Blower Motor to operate at slower speeds.

The highest speed of the Heater Blower Motor is not controlled by the resistor, so when the resistor fails, the fan will often work on the highest speed setting, but not the lower speeds.

To resistor is generally located under the dashboard, near the blower motor. The resistor's electrical connector is disconnected, the resistor is removed and the new resistor is installed. On some vehicles it may be easily accessible, and on others it may take partial dashboard removal to replace the resistor.

I have change the resistor but the fan still run on high only
IN MY GMC SAFARI VAN THE RESISTOR WAS FOUND BETWEEN THE BLOWER AND THE A/C COIL IN THE DUCT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BEHIND THE COOLANT AND WASHER FLUID TANKS. EASY TO REMOVE , BUT REPLACEMENT RESISTOR PACK REQUIRES SLIGHT ENLARGEMENT OF HOLE IN DUCT THAT RESISTOR FITS INTO. HINT; USE PATTERN TO CUT HOLE TO FIT,BUT CHECK IT CAREFULLY , MY PATTERN WAS MIRROR IMAGE, BACKWARDS OR SOMETHING. A MIRROR HELPED TO SEE IN THE CRAMPED AREA. DUCT CUTS WITH A SHARP UTILITY KNIFE.FUNCTIONS PERFECTLY NOW!
the resistor is located behind the glove box, and on top of the air tunnel for the heater. Not at all easy to get at, but is doable. Took me almost an hour for the whole project. Buy the resistor first so you know what you are looking for. Mine was $19.00.
