The needle on my fuel gauge doesn't read correctly. One winter (it was a particularly nasty winter, but) it just stopped working. The gauge will read full, or it will read empty and the "low fuel" indicator will come on. When the car is idling, the needle will fluctuate up and down between those two extremes. Seems like the needle might read somewhere close to the correct level when I'm driving.

Unfortunately, I've never had the chance to get this problem diagnosed and fixed, because this car is nickeling-and-diming me to death. If it's not one thing with it, it's another.

I have been experiencing some shaking and shuddering when idling. I suspect a fuel pump issue. Isn't the fuel gauge reader part of the fuel pump assembly inside the gas tank?...
turning on the key,the fuel gauge goes to full, back to empty, then back to full,an stays on full,is it the sender,an are there codes stored for this problem?
Car shows quarter tank of gas but I ran out of gas on the expressway. Happened last week around the same gas level. Is it a faulty gas gauge or sensor?
Goes to full then empty soon afterwards right after you start it up. Then it will slowly attempt to find the correct level as your driving.
fuel gauge goes to full when car starts then it goes insane going from full to empty back to full speraticly
Never know if i have gas on my car. Fuel gauge does not work. Gas light comes on right after i put gas into my car. Nothing has been done
Not Fixed!!! I would put gas in and the gauge qould not register it.. then it would jump from empty to full.. now it went past full and the needle is pointing downward!!! I think its the gauge itself.. help
The fuel gage stays at Full, unless I am parked at a slant, then it goes down to empty. Even if there is gas in it.
Fuel gauge does not work. When car is in park it gives a rough estimate of gas in thee car. When car is in drive, the hand will always go straight to full. IF gas light comes on then the gas hand will go straight to empty.
i filled my car up and used about 1/4 of gas and now my needle shot to over full then went past empty and know it just goes back and forth on the bottom of the gauge.
Gas gauge always reads full except while idleing or in park. It will ocassionally bounce back and forth between full and empty...then flutter on ocassion. I first suspected it could be the pump , but came across info on the fuel sensor faulting in other impalas. Would the sensor make the car flutter after the gauge bounce back and forth? Does the sensor help regulate the fuel in idle and park? Really need to know because I would rather replace a $45 sensor over the $250 pump assembly. Oh yea, nice job to GM for making the pump so accessible too. Now I don't have to drop the tank!! Its almost like they knew they would fault so they made repair so convienent
GET IN CAR GAS GUAGE READS 3/4 TANG START DRIVING GOES TO FULL , COME TO A STOP CYCLE KEY AND GOES BACK TO 3/4 BUT WILL JUMP AND IS MAKING A RATCHETING SOUND COMMING FROM THE GUAGE
the fuel gauge is going crazy when I no its full yesterday I put ten dollars and it registered between quarter and half and today ok for a wild now it says it has three quarters was is going on
