Flickering or Failure of the HID Lamps on Saab 9-5

Problem Description and Possible Solution

If the HID head lights are flickering or have failed, it may be caused by the window washer fluid leaking onto the HID modules. The washer fluid check valve for the head light washers develops the leak and drips onto the modules mounted under the head light assemblies.

Headlight flickered and now goes out completely. I can turn the aswitch and it lights upo for a 30 seconds. When it is out both low and high beams are out.
Headlight failure light comes on and headlights flicker. Replaced bulbs once but this did not fix the problem.
passenger light flickers almost constantly. Warning light on dash comes on for the headlight problem every once in a while but goes out when I turn the car off and doesn't come back on when I turn the car back on. Everything still works though.
just started to notice the flickering of both headlights. Bulbs have not died yet, but im taking the flickering as a sign that I will be having problems in the near future.
Headlights don't work when switched on
Only lie beams work switch is Oakland the way left and middle position
Swictch On position no lights work
Both front headlamps have had the symptom of flickering and at times have momentarily gone out. They usually come back on within a few seconds and stay on.
warning comes up on sid front headlight failure but bulbs were still working. Now notice they flicker occasionally. Also, the warning on sid would occasionally go away and then come back up randomly. I noticed from previous owners service records that this has been an ongoing problem and not a new issue with me being the new owner of car.
Passenger side flickered, and eventually died, replaced ballast at shop cost of 455 dollars.
Now driver side is going out.
lights initially flicker upon strt up, then seem to finally fully brighten up after a couple of miles of driving.
Passenger sued headlight flickers regardless of low or high beam.
I was told by a mechanic that this is "typical" of Saabs and I should get used to it.
He added that it will be a lifetime of bulb changing and frequent stops by highway patrol for faulty headlights.
Flickering started at 87K. Then it would flicker for a few minutes and then the pass side would go out, and a dash light would come on. It progressed over the next year (no, I didn't fix it and now the car has 105K on it) until both bulbs would alternate flickering and then go out. Time to fix it I guess. Inde Saab guy says it needs new bulbs - both sides at $190 each. Will report if problem not solved.
