Automatic Transmission Fluid Change Cost
RepairPrice Estimates are based on the estimated time for the repair, labor rates charged by trained automotive professionals, and prices for quality parts.
These estimates are designed to show a range of fair prices, instead of a single price, because there is more than one part that is appropriate to use in each repair, and more than a single mechanic who is qualified to do the repair.
Each estimate is customized for your vehicle and geographic area. Estimates exclude applicable taxes, diagnostic charges and disposal fees.
Automatic Transmission Fluid Change Estimate (National Average)
We recommend changing the transmission fluid every 30,000–40,000 miles under normal conditions. If the transmission has a filter, that should be replaced as well. If you operate your vehicle under severe conditions (e.g. extreme weather, towing, or a lot of stop-and-go traffic), the transmission should be serviced every 20,000–30,000 miles.
Your repair shop may recommend a transmission fluid flush, which will require up to 16 quarts of transmission fluid. This will increase the parts and labor price when compared to a normal drain and fill of the transmission.
