Problem overview

Some Dodge Ram 1500 owners report experiencing issues with their engine not turning over after a fuel pump replacement. These problems may stem from a malfunctioning fuel pump control module, which can prevent the pump from operating even if there is 12Vdc at the module. Additionally, if owners do not hear the expected fuel pump cycle noise when turning the key, it may indicate a faulty fuel pump. Issues with the powertrain control module (PCM) or crankshaft sensor can also impede the pump's ability to function, as the PCM relies on signals from the crankshaft sensor to activate the fuel pump. Some owners find success by resetting codes and pressurizing the fuel line by turning the key on and off multiple times before starting the engine. Furthermore, if the engine starts but stalls shortly after, it could signal a problem with the fuel pump pressure regulator, which may require pump replacement. Addressing these issues promptly is crucial for ensuring proper engine operation.
