The engine may start and stall with the security light flashing. This is commonly caused by a failed passlock sensor which is part of the ignition lock cylinder. A secondary cause could be the ignition switch itself. Worn contacts inside the ignition switch can cause voltage drop issues which can affect the passlock system. Proper diagnoses should be performed before replacing any parts.

The vehicle will randomly shut off while driving or would not start at times without me having to either take key out and wait 5-10 minutes or disconnecting (-)battery cable for a few seconds to reset. The stalling of the engine while driving would occur every time the "SECURITY" light came on and made some clicking noise. I've read several posts in forums with people having the same problem with no solution from Chevy. I think it's unfair they have such a major issue but no recall, instead stick loyal customers with pricey repairs bills to "try" and find the problem.

NOT STARTING and SECURITY LIGHT is problem--no problem with engine stalling every month or so--SECURITY LIGHT comes on and stayed on for few minutes 6 months ago, 3 months ago when key turned to start car--no sound--not start all electrical devices work wait---then start after 3 to 15 minutes--engine has NEVER stalled then last week, not start, rotate through messages 3 minutes, 15 minutes later--still not start half hour later, car started, but CHECK ENGINE LIGHT came on and stayed continuously each time engine was started Mechanic charged retail to replace ignition lock cylinder $ 225.90, almost that much to remove and replace, plus diagnostic fee, and recoding and reprogramming fee
car wont start due to no fire to the crank sensor and fuel pump

The Security message flashes and the car won't start. I've already taken care of the key for the ignition with a recall. However, I have to sit for 10-20 minutes before the car starts again. I have tried to have patience with this issue but with two crying children in the car, it's difficult to handle. Would this be considered another "recall" issue since I want to get this problem fixed. Also, I had my oil changed and tires checked for proper air level recently but the message center keeps prompting "change oil" and "low tire pressure" Are these faulty sensors?????

At first my Security light would come on and within about 3 days the car would not start. Would have to wait 15-20 minutes and it would start. This happened about 3-4 times the first year we had the car (bought used in 2013) Now the Security light comes on and anywhere from 3 days to a week later the car wont start... have to leave it sit over night and most of the next day before it will start. Cant plan on driving it any where for fear it wont start. Dont drive out of town might not get home. I drove it 3 blocks away from home today, shut it off, went back out to leave and the car wouldnt start so had to call my husband to come get my son and I. Tried talking to someone on the GM website and he couldn't give me an answer as to why there hasn't been a recall on the ignition switch. Lot of help he was. Will NEVER buy a Chevy again. Cant wait til this POC is paid off to get a car I can rely on. I checked the recall list to see if my car was on there and no it isn't. I am not going to pay for something that GM should be recalling. Am calling tomorrow to have a conversation with GM about this.
