Engine looses power, computer warning engine fault

What is your question?

Range Rover Sports TDV8 2008. Engine cuts out computer states engine fault, stop engine restart all OK. Runs for 50 or so Kilks and does same thing. Noticed black smoke from exhaust when restarting. Engine cutout seems to happen when under load up hill.

What makes this problem better or worse?

Turn off and restart works for awhile
