Coolant Leak From Oil Filter Housing O-Ring on Volkswagen Cabrio

Problem Description and Possible Solution

A coolant leak may develop after oil filter replacement. When tightening or loosening the oil filter the filter housing may turn damaging the coolant o-ring seal. The recommended procedure is to hold the filter housing when tightening or loosening the oil filter.

Dealer wanted $500 for this. Also,loss of coolant resulted in thermostat check engine light that lead to unnecessary change of thermostat.
Slow coolant leak for the past year then my oil filter housing unit cracked leaking oil. Ordered a used oil filter housing & waiting for it to arrive
