The "Check Engine" light as well as the "Track Off" and "VSC" lights came on. The Lexus dealership told me the cause was a failed O2 sensor and recommended I replace both front sensors even though only one was faulty. Total $850.00
THE SAGA: -----Oct 2014 - Failed oxygen sensor diagnosed and replaced ($374) due to Check Engine, VSC and TracOFF being on. They remain off after repair for about 3 months, thenthey come back on, then off, then on again. (for what it's worth, they came back on after a prolongued dry spell.) -----April 2015 - 2nd Failed oxygen sensor diagnosed and replaced ($374) due to the same three warning lights coming on. They remain off after repair.for about two months, then come on again. ----- Sept 17 2015 - First replaced oxygen sensor replaced again, but three warning light remin on. Electric cables to sensors both are checked. Manuals and further tests point to the car's computer. ----- October 15, 2015 - Original computer (LEXUS ECU) replaced ($766) but warning lights remain -----October 21, 2015 - ECU Brake Modiule replaced (($463) -- warning lights stay on. October 30, 2015 -- Rebuilt ECU replaced but warning lights remain on. (Gas mileage improves.3-4 mpg.) -----Nov 02, 2015 -- 2nd new oxygen sensor replaced and the lights remain off. The car passes an emissions test after driving 30 miles. ---November 6, 2015 --The lights come back on again. SO, WHAT IS THE LIST OF ALL OTHER THINGS THAT MIGHT BE CAUSING THIS PROBLEM? At 68,000 miles, the car is in great shape,.otherwise.
Engine light came on due to melfunction of Oxygen intake sensor. It also triggured VSC & Track Off lights.
Check engine light on for bank 2 sensor 1 air fuel sensor.
got this checked out because of the light, and they told me it was a bad sensor that has no effect on how the car runs, but was going to be several hundred dollars to replace, so I didn't get it fixed, but the only problem is that the constant check engine light could be masking another problem.
code po171
Trac and check engine light on
Check engine, Trac, and vsc lights all on. Bank 2, sensor 1 O2 sensor was bad.
Had confirmed by 2 shops and an Advanced Auto part store. Had it replaced at local shop in Cape Coral fl for $259total (which included the $170 part).
ps-had the Bank 1,sensor 1 replaced 2 yrs ago at dealership for $350.
Intermittent check engine light coming on, going off. Mechanic tells me there is a failed oxygen sensor, and will be $417 to fix. I have authorized the repair. Car did not seem to be having problems whether the check engine light was on or off, but I wanted to get it fixed since the car has been stellar for these 15 years of ownership.
Mechanic has recommended and changed 2 different sensor as well as repairing the exhaust pipe. This has happened over a few different visits and the repairs have totaled close to $2000. The check engine light has illuminated again and they are recommending replacement of a third sensor for another $500. This has all, occurred within 2.5 yrs and 15000 miles.
We have 239,433 miles on this RX 300 2001. The only problem has been the O2 sensors crapping out. We've replaced about 8 of these over the years. Other than that its been a great car. Probably will not buy another car that requires so much effort to replace the spark plugs. Really stupid Lexus!
Check engine light and VSC light coming on intermittently.
Car now in for 3rd time in 2 months. 1-replace gas cap seal,2-replaced gas cap seal and some kind of "accumulator"
3- calling right now to see what they have found in the last 4 days
I got this car from my dad in 2005 with only 36000 miles. In 2011 had check engine lite and tracking off lite on. Toyota fixed the problem at a cost of $2700. Now in 2016 I have the same problem. Toyota replaced the same parts as before which is new timing belt, fuel injection cleaned, replaced spark plugs, cleaned throttle body and fuel trims, air flow sensor and mas air flow sensor. I have taken the car back three times because the same lites come back on. Toyota has told me they do not know what is wrong. They will take the manifold off for $500 or replace 2 more sensors for another $500 but they will not guarantee that in will be fixed. I believe the problem is either in the wiring to the computer or master computer itself. In the mean time when lites come on I disconnect the battery which resets the codes in the computer and drive the car short distance till lites come back on. This will either kill the car or give me a better failure code. Hope this helps because both Lexus and Toyota dealerships are worthless thieves.
