Mercedes-Benz E320 Problems

Check brakes if sensotronic brake control (SBC) light comes on on Mercedes-Benz E320

Problem Description and Possible Solution

This vehicle has sensotronic brake control (SBC). If the SBC light on the dash illuminates, have the brakes checked. If the SBC is not working, limited brake pressure is delivered to the front brakes, increasing the distance it takes to stop. The SBC hydraulic unit has a specific service life programmed into the control module; follow the manufacturer's recommended service procedure for proper maintenance of the SBC.

Dashboard RED BRAKE Light comes on. Need to take to shop. Was told by Mercedes that there was a warranty for 10 years. However when we took it up there in February we were not told and the Brake light was on.

MB Dealer diagnosed leak in brake line at right rear SBC unit. Estimated cost of replacing SBC unit and brake line, and performing brake fluid flush, is $2,200+, which seems exorbitant and should not be required in such a low mileage Mercedes.
Lots of noise from the front end before alarms went off. Dash warning lights stating braking was compromised. The car is being towed to the dealership today.
