(volkswagen) is recalling certain 2017 audi a3 and s3 sedan vehicles. in a lower-speed crash situation, the air bag control unit software may deploy the passenger frontal air bag improperly if the front seat passenger is sitting on the edge of the seat or is laying in the seat with the seat reclined. as such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 208, "occupant crash protection."

The passenger frontal air bag may deploy improperly during a low speed crash if the front seat passenger is sitting on the edge of the seat or laying in the seat with the seat reclined. This could cause injury to the occupant as the air bag could deploy with more force than intended.

Recall repairs on your Audi must be performed by a Audi dealership. Audi will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in April, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Audi dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
