A/C would shut down at higher speeds and would take 5 to 10 minutes to come on when I first started the car. Took it to a electrical shop and they found the air gap was way out of ajustment. They said this is a common problem, they adjusted the air gap and I've had no problems since. The cost was about $60.00. Word of CAUTION, I first took it to the dealership and they wanted to replace a valve in the dash that they said was causing the problem at a cost of almost $1000.00. Glad I got a second opinion.
My husband is a ex mechanic and just can't handle working on this problem,we have the new ompressor but he can't do the work
