On February 3, 2016, Acura recalled 2,230,000 Acura ILX. Honda (american honda motor co.) is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 honda cr-v, 2011-2015 cr-z, 2010-2014 fcx clarity, and insight, 2009-2013 fit, 2013-2014 fit ev, 2007-2014 ridgeline, 2013-2016 acura ilx, 2013-2014 acura ilx hybrid, 2007-2016 rdx, 2005-2012 acura rl, 2009-2014 acura tl, and 2010-2013 acura zdx vehicles. the affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture.

The inflator that deploys the driver's frontal air bag in the event of an accident may rupture and spray metal fragments onto vehicle occupants. This can increase risk of serious injury or death.

Recalls on your Honda or Acura must be performed by a the respective Honda or Acura dealership. Honda and Acura will begin notifying owners of affected vehicles in March, 2016, but repair parts may not be immediately available. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Honda or Acura dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.

Acura notified owners of affected vehicles starting in July 2014. You can check with your dealer to see if your vehicle is involved in this program. It is helpful to have your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on hand when you contact them. The Acura recall number is JE9.

One or both of the front doors may not properly latch in the fully closed position due to a problem with the cable connecting the inside door handle and the latch mechanism. A door that is not properly latched may open unexpectedly.

Honda will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning August 16, 2012. There may be no symptoms related to this recall. If you notice problems with a front door latch, or if you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
