Mercedes-Benz SLK230 ProblemsBrake Light Switch Failure May Cause ESP/BAS Warning Lights
The ESP and BAS warning lights may illuminate due to a failed brake light switch. Replacement of the failed switch should correct this concern.
The electrical connector at the automatic transmission may leak fluid. Over time leaking fluid could migrate through the wiring harness and damage the transmission control module. If that happens a new harness and control module may be necessary to correct the problem.
Internal and External engine oil & coolant leaks can develop from the head gasket and/or timing cover gasket; these leaks should be repaired before the engine oil and coolant intermix which can result in severe engine damage.

Started car in garage. Shut off. Tried to start 6hrs later. Car turns over, acts like its gonna start then falls flat on It's face. Shows "start fail" for maint code on dash.
The battery has been replaced twice. I run it while parked until it reaches 180 operational temp. on days it isn't driven. Yet it will not start w/o the Battery Tender being connected. All diagnostic checks are alright. The front right fender(battery side) was damaged & repaired.
