RepairPal Adds Illustrations to Car Parts Articles
A picture is worth a 1000 words, right? That could not be more true when it comes to auto repair. Everyone has heard of an alternator, but where is it exactly? How does coolant really flow through an engine? While we do our best to provide you with content that is clear and concise, sometimes words aren’t enough.
We are excited to announce a partnership with Clear Mechanic, an interactive, Web-based software platform that allows service centers to visually explain repairs to customers. Clear Mechanic created images and videos for repair shops so they can actually show customers what they are going to do and where in the vehicle the repair is taking place.
Already, some dealerships using Clear Mechanic have seen service approvals increase to 90 percent. The visuals provide clear explanations of needed repairs, which gives customers more confidence when it comes to making decisions regarding repairs. According to Eric Lash, of Lash Chevrolet in Johnstown, OH, “Showing a customer a picture of coolant leaking under the hood of their vehicle is much more powerful than just saying they need to spend $700 on an intake repair.”
RepairPal has acquired a number of these images and added them to our Car Parts sections in the Encyclopedia area of the site. So far, we have added the images to articles in the Brakes, Engine, Suspension & Steering, and Exhaust & Emissions sections. The content and the images offer a big picture view of where the particular part is located in the vehicle and an in-depth view of the part itself. We are working very hard to add these images to the remaining sections on our site.
