Hello, I'm a first time BMW owner. I have a used 2006 530 Xi. I was wondering the rough cost of an oil change from the dealership? Also in about 13,000 I will need from brakes services....what should that cost? Thanks fo the help.

Go to estimate on your Repaipal estimator and punch in your info, comes out to about $69 to $119 for a oil change and the price to just replace brake pads comes out to $205 to $278 without changing the Rotors, I usually change my pads every 30,000 as a rule so you don't ruin the rotors.

Unfortunately, cracked cylinder heads can be difficult to fix, and they are always expensive. the best thing would be to replace the cylinder head, but if the part isn't available, then that's a problem. It may be possible to fix the crack and keep the car drivable. I recommend calling some other shops and even parts stores to see if anyone can offer to a less expensive solution than replacing the entire motor. Sorry you're having such a mountain of trouble!

No Key Code
ejoeboy, 1995 BMW 318i, Suffolk, VA, January 03, 2009, 06:30
I purchased a 1995 318i BMW from a previous owner 2 years ago and I lost the key a couple of months ago. I took it to a BMW car dealer to make another key and was told that 100 BMW's my make and model were made without a key code. Now I have a car just sitting in the yard. I need to know how to get this resolved. Do anyone know who I can call directly other than a car dealer to get my car a key.

Usually you reach into the gap where seat meets the back, slide your hand in and grab the rear of the seat with both hands and pull up, Its very hard to do and you need to be quite strong.

BMW 325i's are very reliable cars when they are well-cared for. The information I'm looking at says that BMWs made in the early 90s require what BMW calls and "Inspection I" at least every 10,000 Miles, according to factory specifications. This service includes changing the oil and oil filter, and possibly the air filter. What service you should perform now also depends on what was last performed by the prior owner. The best bet for keeping the car tip-top is to take it to a BMW expert and have them service your car based on what was most recently done and what it appears to need. The oil leak on the engine is definitely a concern. I wouldn't recommend mineral water--distilled water is best, or at least clean water with low mineral content in an emergency, but maintaining the right coolant mix is very important. BMWs are sensitive, high-performance cars, and investing in maintenance will save big bucks in the long haul.

inside door panel
stevo3, 1997 BMW 528i, Long Beach, NY, December 29, 2008, 12:09
How is the inside door panel removed? The cable connecting the handle that opens the door broke. Thanks

This can be tricky, even for experienced technicians. The best bet is to buy a repair manual for your 528. You'll find detailed diagrams and instructions for how to find the fasteners and how to take off the panel. Another good resource are BMW enthusiast forums--you can find car-specific how to do it yourself information.

The plastic part of yhe tube that is inserted in the top hose has falling off. It is replacebile or do I need a new rediator?
Answer #1
munkyrench, December 29, 2008, 09:06
When the plastic "neck" of the radiator is broken, then you will need to replace the radiator. Be very cautious when it comes to the cooling system, overheating the engine will do thousands of dollars in damage very quickly!

Water Leaking in back condensation on the inside windows
cbar, 2004 BMW X3, Croton On Hudson, NY, December 26, 2008, 17:06
A few weeks back, I noticed condensation forming on the inside front windshield. I couldn't figure out why it was happening until I discovered the water leak in my trunk. I found the water after opening the trunk and a blanket on the left side was completely soaked. Any ideas of where to begin with this problem. Given the expense of BMW service, maybe I could fix this one myself.

If you have a sunroof more than likely the drain hose is clogged, when its not raining open the sunroof and pour a glass or two of water around the rim area of the sunroof it should run out under the car if it dosn't the sunroof drain is clogged.

I would recommend taking your vehicle to a shop that can flush your radiator, but that depends on what is inside your radiator. What is the problem you are having?

Right front window stuck in up position
newone, 1998 BMW 323is, Oceanside, CA, December 19, 2008, 08:53
What would be the process to check if one of parts that make the window work so i wont buy the motor or regulator first?
Answer #1
Russ, December 19, 2008, 09:59
Here is a quick test: With the key on, hold the window switch for the affected door in the down position and open and close the door firmly a few times. If the window starts working the fault is most likely with the window motor. If nothing happens, the next step would be to remove the door panel and perform some basic electrical diagnosis to isolate the fault.

It means you have to get an oil change.. least that is what the light in my car stands for.. but rather going off our guess's just grab your manual book that should be in your glove box when you bought the car.. it outlines what every sign and object in your car stands for and does..

httnmrtt 365, December 15, 2008, 21:53
It means check the engine, soon. You have to plug in a diagnostic code reader to find out which sensors are activated. You can't drive a BMW without putting a dent in your wallet.

I want to buy 18" wheels for my BMW 330xi. Is there any differences between AWD and RWD drive...? I'd like to also get bigger (18"x more than 7) rims for rear and smaller for front. What size can be the best? What is maximum withe can be (18" x 7.0.,7.5.,8 or more)?
Answer #1
Hemp123 708, December 15, 2008, 22:04
AWD=All Wheel Drive
Since you have a Xi(Which is AWD) you should pay close attention to the width of the tire. An 18" tire will be fine. Make sure your tire does not exceed 9.5" in width as you will run in to problems. For widths of 9.5" or more, get spacers.

The specific key is for the 7 series. The 3 series key that looks like that started being implemented in 2006 with the introduction of the E90 sedan. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Thank your for that information. I have already had a locksmith to come out and try to unlock the doors, but the lock system on it does not release without a key. They called the BMW lot and they told him we would have to replace the entire lock system and ignition. They said they would cover the part at $798 but we would have to pay $695 to have it installed. I have a problem with that because this is a defect with the car when it was originally made. The expense should be theirs to cover. So, I am really trying to locate someone who can give me a phone number, address or email address to someone who can help resolve this issue that is able to make this kind of decision. Sorry, I should have explained this at first. Thank you again
