May 09, 2011, 05:53 PM
This one is a Doozy! HELP!!! The car in the winter had great heat, no problems. then when it warmed up I noticed the radiator leaking,,,replaced that, then the car temp guage would start to rise above the mid line,,,then the car was asking for more antifreeze,,, so I put antifreeze in and when I got into traffic it started to show steam coming from my engine,, so low and behold,,I saw my reservoir had a hole in it,, got a new one,, then,,the new reservoir was spitting antifreeze out of the seam when temp would go over mid line in traffic,, so I got another new one,,,same thing....Now I start to think of other things,,replaced thermostat last year, new reservoir cap a few weeks ago, new temp guage today,,,still the same!!! What the F@#K else could it be??? If i put on the AC the damn fans come on and all is good in the world but with current gas prices and travel in the cool mornings I dont want the AC on!!! I am at a loss, is there any way to wire a switch to manually turn the fans on? If so how and where> I need help on this one cuz I travel long distances and get into traffice often. ALL HELP WOULD BE GREAT!!

Question Asked: Car seems to heat up in traffic past the middle line summer or winter
February 11, 2011, 08:09 AM
My car seems to start to overheat when in traffic, I recently replaced the coolant reservoir with new one because of same problem but, still heats up. I replaced the thermostat last summer and the fuse for the 2 fans in good (the fans come on randomly-not sure what makes them go on. The cars heat is good, AC fair in summer. coolant level good. New coolant, radiator and condenser replaced about a year ago,, It seems to rise to about the 3/4 mark till it makes me nervous and I blast the heat. anyone????
Question Answered: does this vehical have a thermostat
May 09, 2011, 08:13 PM
WELL,,, its pretty straight forward ... if you leave it and see it on your driveway(good thing) its something in the engine like a leaky brittle hose or etc.... if you dont see anything on the driveway,,,its entering the engine(bad thing) thru the head gasket...if it is inside the floorboard of your car ,,, heater core.
Question Answered: blows hot air
May 09, 2011, 08:10 PM
most likely your thermostat may be not woriking or I believe your heater core may not be closing and opening ....guess would be to replace thermostat its cheap and easy to do....not sure what air conditioning would have to do with what you were asking.

make sure you check all the fuses in the car and the engine first...usually this is the most common problem... fuses blow.. that is also the most OVERLOOKED item too. check relays too. the next thing is something blocking the track.

Problem Reported: Engine Starts and Stalls Due to Secutiry System Fault
May 27, 2010, 11:08 AM

The engine may start and stall with the security light flashing. This is commonly caused by a failed passlock sensor which is part of the ignition lock cylinder. A secondary cause could be the ignition switch itself. Worn contacts inside the ignition switch can cause voltage drop issues which can affect the passlock system. Proper diagnoses should be performed before replacing any parts.
