A guide to problems, costs, maintenance and repair for your 2007 Jeep Compass

2007 Jeep Compass Problems

Check Engine Light With Code P0139, and/or P0571

The Check Engine Light may illuminate with code P0139 and/or P0571. Our technicians tell us the revised powertrain control module (PCM) is available to correct this concern.

Engine Will not Start Due to Wireless Control Module Fault

A no crank or no start condition may develop due to electronic lockup of the wireless control module (WCM), also referred to as the Sentry Key Remote Entry Module (SKREEM). When this module fails the remote keyless entry system will also not operate. The WCM is commonly replaced to correct this concern.

Abnormal Noise or Damage to AC Compressor

A rattle type noise may be noted from the AC compressor or the compressor could be damaged due to "slugging" of the refrigerant. The compressor may require replacement to correct this concern. If the compressor is replaced an updated condenser may also be required.

Accelerator Pedal May Stick and/or Bind

The accelerator pedal bearing pockets may be oversized. As a result, the pivot bushings may become dialoged, causing the accelerator to bind or stick. If the accelerator were to stick, the "smart" braking system will overcome the stuck accelerator under certain conditions. Dealers will replace the affected accelerator pedals to correct this concern. This recall is expected to begin on June 29, 2010. The Chrysler recall number is K11.

Parking Brake May Not Fully Engage

The parking brake mechanism may not engage fully to secure the vehicle due to some incorrectly sized wheel hub mounting bolts being in the way. Dealers will replace the rear hub mounting bolts and repair the park brake free of charge to resolve the concern.

Rollover Risk Warning Missing From Owner's Manual

The owner's manual for the vehicle did not get printed with required rollover warning information. Chrysler mailed an addendum to vehicle owners that should be added to the existing manual free of charge to resolve the concern.
