Oil sludge is a solid gel like substance that is created in motor oil when that oil isn't changed on a frequent basis. It is usually caused by water and dirt binding with old and broken down oil molecules and can ruin an engine.

A supercharger is a mechanically driven air compressor that forces air into the engine’s induction system. This provides more oxygen to the cylinders for increased power from the combustion process.

A synchronizer is a manual transmission engagement assembly that rests between two gears and contains a set conical brass rings. When the brass rings are pressed together during a gear shift, they adjust and match the speed of the two gears, allowing them to smoothly engage.

An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler is used to cool off the exhaust gases before they are recirculated back into the combustion process. Air or engine coolant can be used to cool the EGR gases.

My jaw hit the floor when I saw a FD (1994) Mazda RX7 with the Z06 LS7, so I cannot imagine what a featherweight Miata with that kind of horsepower is like! The short wheelbase and sharp handling characteristics of the Miata would make this a fantastic track weapon with the reliability of factory stock parts. Because these are factory engines, you could theoretically pass all of the California emissions requirements and run as clean, or cleane,r than the original engine.

We hear a lot of stories and get a lot of questions from drivers all over the country who are looking to save money by performing a repair themselves on their car. We've heard everything from changing oil, to brake work, to replacing an intake manifold or fixing a check engine light that's just turned on.

An exhaust down (header) pipe is a pipe that connects the engine exhaust manifold(s) to the exhaust system. It often includes a flexible connection to allow for engine movement relative to the rest of the exhaust system.

A fuel gauge is a device that indicates the amount of fuel in a vehicle fuel tank. It can either be an analog gauge that uses a needle to sweep a scale that ranges from empty to full, a digital representation of an analog display, or it can be a digital gauge that produces a numerical reading in gallons.
