Exhaust Down Pipe

An exhaust down (header) pipe is a pipe that connects the engine exhaust manifold(s) to the exhaust system. It often includes a flexible connection to allow for engine movement relative to the rest of the exhaust system.

Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Exhaust Down Pipe

  • Ticking type noise (exhaust leak)
  • Squeak or creak noise at idle from flexible connection
  • If gaskets are used, they should be replaced whenever the down pipe is disconnected or removed
