Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 Problems
RepairPal has identified the most common problems with the Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 based on complaints from actual vehicle owners. We'll tell you what the problem is and what it'll take to fix it.
The throttle position sensor (TPS) on the Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 is notorious for failure which causes:
- Check engine light
- Reduced Power message
- OBD trouble code P2135
This issue is related to the throttle position sensor, and can be caused by faulty wiring to the TPS, bad connection at the TPS, or a failed TPS.
To correct this issue, the wiring harness, connector, and throttle position sensor must be inspected, tested, and/or replaced. The most common cause is a faulty TPS.
A loose or worn gas cap could be cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate.
The spark plugs should be replaced every 30,000 miles and the spark plug boots should be checked for hot spots and cracks.
A coolant leak may develop from the water pump. This can result in an engine overheating condition. A leaking water pump will require replacement.
Problems with anti-theft systems using the raised-chip key can prevent the car from starting. The wires in the steering column to the ignition lock cylinder tend to break. The key and ignition lock cylinder should be replaced to correct this condition.
